Somewhere over the Rainbow!

It appears that colour is in and we will be sporting lots of sugary hues , pink and yellow being the main ones. The way to make the looks modern is to wear different shades of the same colour and I especially like the idea of textures, think leather an chiffon. For a different take on the trend try orange which looks great combined with blue or  ( shock of horrors!) red!

Basically , pretty much anything goes as far a being creative with combinations goes.

My favourite is the orange with blue and red. I think it is very fresh and striking and will look great with a tan!Plus orange is a colour that suits pretty much everyone.

Of course the streetstylers have already cottoned on to the trend and are providing some much needed inspiration , as I think that it is quite a tricky look to pull off.

Investing in a bright coat is a good way to adapt this Summer trend to the cold months that still lie ahead.

There are lots of options for you to choose from and it will certainly make you stick out from the crowd...

Easy tasty Pastitsio!

Hello , yesterday I made a delicious pastitsio for my family as a Sunday dinner and it went down a storm. Kids love pasta dishes and this one is great, because it is easy and you can make a large Pastitsio or two trays and save one in the freezer for another day.I uploaded a picture of it on my instagram account and there was a lot of interest so I have decided to share my recipe with you. This is  a first for me so I hope I am clear enough .

Ingredients

750 gr of good quality mince
Barilla Pastitsio pasta or you can use penne.
2 large tomatoes
1 large onion
salt peeper and sweet paprika
a cube of vegetable stock
some good quality wine
2 cinnamon sticks
250 grams Reggato grated cheese
150 ml of milk
1egg
some olive oil

Blend the onion and saute it in a pan with a little olive oil and add the mince. When it has gone brown add a about 100 ml of wine ( you do not have to be very precise) and the vegetable stock. When the wine has evaporated add a cup of water and the the tomatoes that you have blended also. Then add your salt pepper paprika and cinnamon sticks and leave to cook until most of the juices have evaporated. At the end add some olive oil.
For the pasta boil some water with salt and olive oil and cook the pasta  aldente.
Remove pasta from pan and drain and the pour back into the pan.
Beat the milk and egg together and add a handful of the grated cheese, then pour into the pasta and mix until all the past is covered.
Take a glass baking tray and pour a layer of pasta a drizzle of olive oil then the mince, followed by the rest of the pasta and the sprinkle the cheese to cover the top of the pasta.
Cook in the middle of a preheated oven at 180 degrees until a crust has formed .

And there you have a delicious pastitsio! Allow it to cool the cut into big fat pieces to keep everyone happy. Serve with a  green salad!

Basking in the sunshine!

After long weeks of abnormally cold weather, snow and rain, finally some sun to remind me how beautiful my country is! Taking advantage of this I opted for a cardigan coat, a welcome change from being wrapped up in thick coats and furry layers. I also combined it with my favourite stripe thin knit , baring in mind stripes are major for SS17.

Super trend..stripes!

One of the major trends for the new season is stripes, but as we know them! Stripes have taken on many forms and colours and there is no right or wrong way to wear them.Make them bold and colourful or monochromatic and subtle, diagonal or horizontal nautical and Breton, the choice is yours. The good news is , there is a type to suit everyone and I have to admit , I am a major fan of this trend. I wear stripes anyway but I am glad there will be so much more choice. Also , I really like how they have left casual territory and are even appropriate for evening wear.

Celebs and bloggers of course have been quick of the mark and have adopted the look wholeheartedly.

And I am sure it won't be long before the beautiful clothing admired on the catwalk , will be gracing the fashionable backs of world  streetstylers!

Of course the high street has also loved this trend for it's wearability and lets face it it's fun and perfect for the warm months ahead!

Here are some of my faves! from left to right ...

The Cardigan Coat, Your Wardrobe Staple!

I am a big fan of cardigan coats. One obvious reason would be , because I live in a warm country and a lot of the time a proper coat is too warm, whereas a cardigan coat will suffice! Also, I think they look very elegant as they are softer and great for layering, so even on colder days you can wear a chunky knit under is and a coat or shawl on top. Also layers mean that you can be just as comfy indoors!
In the last two weeks I have bought three, a cream one, a navy blue one and a grey. Although I love them all, by far the one I never seem to take off is the grey one. You can wear it with denim and black and I also like to layer different shades of grey.

I have tried to show some different ways in which I have styled my lovely, very overworked cardigan coat!

Winter Whites and a Pom Pom

The sales have started and we are all pretty fed up with our coats and scarves and dull colours, but unfortunately it is still too cold to wear the lighter clothing. I always find it refreshing to wear creams and whites in winter and it is a great way to pick up your mood on those dreary mornings. The key to keeping it season appropriate is to go for great knits  and combine shades together, as you do not want to end up looking like a snow man!For this outfit I chose a lovely winter white cardigan coat and layered over a stripped sweater to bring some colour. I also love my hats, so a pom pom woolly hat was a must! . Don't be afraid to try hats, they suit everyone and they elevate any outfit , no matter how plain. Lastly I finished of with thick winter leggings and some lovely  leather ankle  boots.

The great thing about the winter whites is that you can combine them with lighter more summery clothing when it gets warmer , making them great for transitioning into spring.

Pick of the day, make a fresh start !

January is well upon us and it is time to reinvent ourselves, sartorially speaking. New season is slowly filtering into the stores and although it is exciting , the weather does not allow for much of it. So I have  got my fix from the beautiful sportswear, that as we know no longer belongs solely in the gym. In fact it is a fresh look that will allow you to combine comfort and fashion while looking effortlessly stylish.!

The best way to wear this trend in a work friendly way is in the form of a skirt and sweater , that is also a more original look than joggers and sweatshirts. TOPSHOP has the perfect outfit and that is why I am deeming them pick of the day!!

Two ways to wear a cape!

Hello, although the weather is so unusually cold at the moment , it has made me think about how I can wear and layer my clothing better . I love capes and I think they are great items for layering. They also always look cool and I am especially fond of lightweight versions that you can also wear indoors, as lets face it most of the winter days are spent inside. So I thought about my lovely cape and how I could style it differently. One version is my normal go to style with leggings , a denim shirt and woolly hat. The other version is a step way from my norm , but I really like it. I belted the cape around the waist and added a flowy maxi skirt and I was impressed with how wearable this look is.
